CAREERS AND DEVELOPMENT
Careers and Counselling
The benefits of career conversations and a Career Action Plan
Engaging in career conversations can be highly beneficial for teenagers as they explore their future pathways. Talking with teachers, a career advisor, professionals, and family members helps young people gain valuable insights, broaden their understanding of different industries, and make informed decisions about their education and career choice. Additionally, having a Career Action Plan as a teenager provides a clear roadmap for future goals and aspirations. It helps teens make informed decisions about education, training, and job opportunities, ensuring they stay on track toward the next step in their career.
Throughout Term 1, our Year 12 students have attended a career interview to help them develop their Career Action Plan, in which they have reviewed their QCE progression, identified their school, personal and post-school goals, and discussed ways to achieve their goals. I will meet with our Year 12s again in Term 3 and early Term 4 to further discuss their next step after school, including preparing for university, entering the workforce and undertaking further education and training. During Term 2, our Year 11s will be invited for a career chat to review their SET Plan and develop their Career Action Plan by identifying their goals and discussing their post-school pathway interests and options.
Parents and students are always welcome to contact me to book an appointment to discuss post-school options and pathways.
