RE NEWS FROM THE TEAM

RE MATTERS

A Moment of Reflection at Mid-Term

Good day, good people!

As we reach the halfway point of the term, many students are beginning to feel the pressure of increased classwork and upcoming assessments. It’s a time when feelings of stress and overwhelm can start to creep in. During these busy and sometimes challenging days, it’s important to pause and reflect on how our faith can provide comfort and strength.

We invite you to take a quiet moment to join us in this prayer—a reminder of God’s constant presence, especially when life feels overwhelming:

Let us pray,

Loving God,

Thank you for your presence during the hard and heavy days

—when we can lean on You.

Thank you for your presence in the bright and joyful moments

—when we can share our blessings with others.

Thank you for your presence in the sacred moments

—when we celebrate You, our families, and our friends.

For those who feel voiceless—speak.

For those who feel unworthy—pour out your love like waterfalls of tenderness.

For those who are in pain—bathe them in your healing stream.

For those who feel alone—surround them with your comforting presence.

For those who are struggling—shine your light of hope into their hearts.

Amen.

Let’s continue to support one another and draw strength from our faith as we journey through the rest of the term together.

Mini Vinnies and Teen Vinnies Sleepout
Our Mini Vinnies and Teen Vinnies groups, led by College Chaplain Ms Christina Ciencia-Jeroma, are preparing for their first-ever Vinnies Sleepout. This powerful event invites students to step into the shoes of those experiencing homelessness by spending the night with only basic food and shelter. Throughout the evening, students will engage in meaningful activities designed to deepen their understanding of homelessness and the incredible support provided by the St Vincent de Paul Society. It's a moving and formative experience that reflects our College’s commitment to compassion and service.

Ozanam Youth Leadership Program
A big congratulations to four of our students – Olivia Lawrence, Frasier Swinton, Dom Millican, and Isla Bobongie – who have been selected to participate in the prestigious St Vincent de Paul Ozanam Youth Leadership Program. They recently returned from a challenging camp near Brisbane, where they developed teamwork and leadership skills in a dynamic, military-style environment. We are proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing them continue to grow as young leaders in service of others.

St Anthony’s Day Celebrations
St Anthony’s Day is fast approaching in Week 8, and we are excited to come together as a College to celebrate our rich Franciscan charism. The day will include a joyful College Mass, buddy class activities, and a special whole-College Drum Circle celebration. This annual event is a highlight of our school calendar, offering students and staff alike an opportunity to reflect, connect, and celebrate the spirit of St Anthony through community, simplicity, and joy.

Our College Prayer below helps us continue our focus on our College traditions.

College Prayer

Creator God, like Gabul, connect us through our ancestors to shape a just future

God of Wisdom, like Anthony, lead us, teach us, show us

Reflective God, like Clare, allow us to see your light in ourselves and others

God of Hope, like Agnes, fill us with the joy of possibility and purpose

Awe-filled God, like Giles, inspire us to be honest and trust in your way

God of Charity, like Benedict, open our hearts to goodwill, mercy and kindness

Peaceful God, like Francis, make us a channel of your love

Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.

(St Anthony of Padua)

God Bless
