ASSISI CAMPUS NEWS

Last week it was the first time we entered the Horizon H2 Fuel Car Grand Prix. The small group of students had been working quite hard for some months with Mr Snook to make the car. Come race day there was a slight electrical fault which meant that the battery was being used more than it had to and not enough hydrogen. It was a great opportunity for these students to meet like minded students from other schools and continue the journey next year.

There have been quite a few excursions this last fortnight. We had the Year 12 Social and Community Studies students visit the Townsville Magistrates Courts to further their understanding with the legal topics they are covering in class. Our Year 12 Japanese students had a nice dinner at Gyo and were able to practice their Japanese. Our Year 11 Aquatic Practice students had a great day out fishing and snorkelling as part of their unit. Monday our Japanese department organised and handed out heaps of Obento Boxes to staff and students to enjoy at lunch. What a tasty feed. We are really sorry for the mix up with the orders. Our Year 12 Elected Leaders accompanied Mrs Bond to celebrate the CWL Mary Help of Christians Mass and Morning Tea, while other students were completing their White Card course at school.

Our Dragons Rugby League players continue with their weekly competition while the Dragons Netballers do the same. They also had the Charters Towers Netball Junior Carnival. They had a good carnival with some wins and have gained a great deal of experience. Our Year 7&8 team managed to end up in second place, well done to them

Today we had our College photos hence the change in the day to wear their academic uniform. We hope they come up well for you.

Next week I will send out some information with regards to my address to the students on Assembly last week with regards to violence. I am waiting to catch up with the Year 11 students on Tuesday first before I send out an email.

Until next Newsletter or I see you, take care.
