PADUA TEACHING AND LEARNING

Teachers as Lifelong Learners

At St Anthony’s, we believe that great teaching starts with great learning. This year, our whole staff engaged in 4D professional learning at the beginning of the year, directly aligned to our strategic priorities and school goals. To further embed this work, key staff have since taken part in Advanced 4D training, bringing back new ideas and practical strategies to share with colleagues.

With upcoming pupil-free days, our teachers will have precious time to reflect on practice and explore updated guidelines. These days are not simply “days off,” but opportunities for staff to deepen their knowledge and ensure students are receiving the best possible teaching and learning.

Our teachers are strong advocates and role models for life-long learning. Just as we encourage students to stay curious and open to new ideas, our staff commit to doing the same. By investing in professional growth, they ensure that the children of St Anthony’s continue to thrive.

Last week during Book Week, we welcomed Emarly Bitungane, our Adopt-a-Cowboy representative, who shared a story and a powerful message with students: “If you want to be good at something, you need to work at it.” He reminded our students that hard work pays off in sport, relationships, academics, and every aspect of life.

Families as Advocates for Learning

Parents and families can reinforce this message by:

  • Modelling curiosity - share something new you’ve learned.

  • Valuing effort as well as achievement - celebrate persistence and “having a go.”

  • Encouraging questions - wonder together and explore answers.

  • Sharing your own stories of perseverance - show children that challenges can be overcome.

  • Joining in the journey - read together, try new activities, or explore community events as a family.

Together, we are building a culture where hard work, resilience, and learning are celebrated.
